CREATING FLEXIBLE SUPPLY CHAINS

As supply chain management becomes a key component of competitive strategy, a critical issue will be the flexibility of the supply chain. A flexible supply chain is one that can quickly and efficiently adapt to changing customer requirements. This presentation will define the dimensions of supply chain flexibility and provide examples of companies that have created flexible supply chains.

Speaker: Rhonda is associate professor of operations management at Iowa State University. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa after spending 15 years working in industry in various material management positions. A member of the Central Iowa Chapter, Rhonda has served ass development chair for the Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) and as chair of the Integrated Enterprise Management Development Committee. She served as chair of the 2001 International Conference Committee.

Rhonda has been a speaker at numerous APICS regional, international and other conferences, including National Manufacturing Week, IBM Global Supply Chain Management Executive Conference, and the South Africa SAPICS conference. Rhonda has published articles in several journals specifically on the topic of supply chain management.
