ALL V.I.P.’s

All have a share in the beauty
All have a part in the plan;
What does it matter what duty Falls to the lot of man?
Someone must blend the plaster
And someone must carry the stone;
Neither the man nor the master
Ever has builded alone.
Making a roof from the weather
Or building a house for a king,
Only by working together have men
Ever accomplished a thing.

We are looking for plasterers and stone haulers for our 2004-2005 program year. If you are interested in serving on the board of directors or volunteering to help in any capacity, please let a board member know. Help us build an even better house of the Wichita Chapter of APICS.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is enjoying the New Year. I am looking forward to an exciting 2004!!

Our February PDM will be a combined meeting with NAPM and ASQ. It will be on February 12 at the Four Points Sheraton. We are honored to have Carol Ptak, CFPIM,CIRM, PMP, who is our past APICS 2000 National President as our speaker. She is currently vice president of People Soft and her topic will be “Strategic Sourcing for Effective Operations. You do not want to miss this excellent presentation.

The October newsletter included an update from APICS 2003 National President Bob Collins regarding the proposed Society restructuring. In that update Bob mentioned that the execution/structure portion of the proposal was modified and accepted while the governance portion was sent back for further discussion and work. That same identical motion will be presented for consideration at the January 9, 2004 national Board of Directors Meeting in Alexandria, Virginia. That motioned failed 12-10.

Off to sunny San Diego in 2004!!! – Save the date. Make sure to reserve October 10-13, 2004 for the APICS International Conference and Exposition in San Diego, California. The APICS conference reflects the educational needs of a continually changing business environment where companies’ experience increasing competition in their efforts to maintain – and increase – market share.

How do businesses benefit from the APICS Conference? Employees leverage supply chain management education to enrich their careers and make significant contributions to the productivity, quality, and financial success of their organizations.

To those who are working on their Certification Maintenance application, if you need help you can contact Society Customer Service at 1-800-444-2742 or email at certain@apicsshg.org.

I wish you and your families a healthy and prosperous 2004!!!!

Sincerely,

  Ron Kammerer, CPIM, CIRM, President 2003-2004
