“It’s not what we eat, but what we digest that makes us strong; Not what we gain, but what we save that makes us rich; Not what we read, but what we remember that makes us wise. It’s not what we preach, but what we practice that makes us APICS members." Francis Bacon What’s in it for me? If you are like most people you are very busy and don’t have time to waste. I think most people who read an organizations President’s message, do so because they want to know “What’s in it for me? What is membership in this organization going to do for me?” These are both valid questions. I can tell you that we offer the main body of knowledge classes, hold 10 monthly Professional Development Meetings per year with excellent speakers discussing current topics and real world applications of proven tools and techniques. We offer a seminar as another way to help you stay current with what is evolving in our field of resource management. Your membership entitles you to a monthly publication and quarterly journal pertaining to the APICS body of knowledge. There are many opportunities to network with fellow professionals to help solve problems, find needed resources, improve efficiencies for your company, and find employment. Certification facilitates personal and professional growth and recognition. Continued membership also facilitates certification maintenance. We are glad YOU are here! Remember, YOU make it possible for the Wichita Chapter to have meetings, YOU help other people learn, YOU add a special perspective to the meeting and YOU light up our lives. Our October PDM features a plant tour of York International on October 19 from 1-3 P.M. The Wichita NAPM/ISM had a tour there in the spring and said it was an excellent tour. The Wichita APICS was awarded its’ 17th straight Platinum award for last year 2003-2004. Thanks to last year’s officers for a job well done. Somehow from taking that first step in APICS myself, I have met some fabulous people and find myself carrying our standard in the APICS world. And I thank you, for being members, for being volunteers, for coming to meetings and seminars and classes, for keeping the vision and value of APICS alive, and for being YOU. | |
