Plant Tour:
Pioneer Balloon Plant
Tour For more than 80 years,
Pioneer Balloon Company has been in the business of making people smile. The
color, excitement, and magic of Qualatex balloons has welcomed troops home
from war, celebrated the first man on the moon, launched marriages, and
announced births. Our Dove balloons flew gracefully during the opening
ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer.
El Dorado, Kansas, is home to the
company's largest manufacturing facility. This 200,000 square foot facility
employs over 300 people from Butler and surrounding counties. In 1989, a
100,000 square feet building was built to accommodate foil balloon
manufacturing that was relocated from Lenexa, Kansas. Five years later, the
plant was doubled in size to its now 200,000 square feet. The plant was
expanded to become the Central Distribution for Pioneer Worldwide. Our El
Dorado operations ship product to all corners of the world everyday.
Latex balloons are manufactured in bulk at
our three plants in Dallas, Texas, Ashland, Ohio, and Hamilton, Ontario,
Canada. These plants produce over one billion latex balloons annually that
are shipped to our El Dorado plant for finishing operations. Millions of
these latex balloons are printed in El Dorado by our state of the art
printing machines. The printed balloons are then packaged and sold to our
vast network of distributors and wholesalers all over the world.
