future of APICS in 2006

NEW PDM AGENDA FORMAT |
Main presentation:
The Direction of
Operations Mgt and the future of APICS in 2006
Natural disasters and terrorism dominate our
national consciousness. Operations Management cannot escape the impact of
these events. What will the impacts be and how should they be addressed? The
unfortunate and heavy losses will increase demand for many products but the
cost of transportation will be increasing across the entire supply chain. Is
it time to start reexamining the trend to offshore manufacturing and local
distribution?
APICS is focusing on the customers and
channels and products that will best serve the current and future needs of
you, the APICS customer. CSCP is only the first, and perhaps most extensive,
example of this approach in action. APICS heard what the customers were
saying and is on an accelerated course to fulfilling that need. The world is
in a constant state of change and as we have seen with the recent natural
disasters we must adjust to these current events and changes.
APICS is committed to gathering more
information from our customers, channels, and markets worldwide. This data
will be utilized to enhance or create products, strengthen current channels
of distribution (such as chapters and our international affiliates), and
enhance the membership and subscription products. Over the last few years
APICS has spent time evaluating itself and developing a new strategic plan.
What is being done and what will be done in 2006 and beyond? The
presentation will address that question by examining the seven elements of
the APICS Strategic Plan and what has and will be going on and how it will
benefit members, chapters, and the Association in 2006.
