APICS International Conference and Exposition

First of all I want to plug the APICS International Conference and Exposition being held this year in Orlando. It will be a great benefit and opportunity to all who attend. The dates are October 29-31 and more information is available at www.apics.org.

Second, we have a tremendous meeting in store for you in October. Joe Shedlawski CPIM and the President Elect of APICS will be our speaker; it will also be Top Management Night and Past Presidents Night. Please be sure to attend.

We just found out that we maintained Platinum status with APICS and the WSU Student Chapter also achieved Platinum status. Congratulations to the board and students for their hard efforts in making this happen.

Finally, I just returned from the APICS Leadership Institute and am pleased to report things are going well. Many chapters are reporting a tremendous increase in APICS Certification classes and it would appear many more companies are going to begin requiring it. But the main focus is on CSCP. Classes are springing up all over the United States and there is tremendous interest in that certification also. It does appear that we are still going to be stuck with paper and pencil testing through 2007, but that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Statistics show that people who take the paper tests have a higher pass rate then the electronic form. It is believed that when you don't have the option of selecting the date, you wind up being better prepared. We are working on making Wichita a test site for the next exam.

Hope to see you in Orlando!
