Celebrating 45 Years in Wichita!

Welcome back to the 45th year of professional development meetings organized by the APICS Wichita Chapter.

First of all, I would like to encourage you to attend the upcoming APICS International Conference and Exposition being held in Denver this year. It will be a great benefit and opportunity to all who attend. The dates are October 21-23 and more information is available at www.apics.org. The 2008 conference will be held in Kansas City, MO.

We have a tremendous meeting in store for you next month in October. Robert Vokurka, PhD and the President Elect of APICS International will be our speaker; it will also be Top Management and Past Presidents Night. Robert’s presentation on Supply Chain Management 2010; Charting the future of Strategic Supply Chain Management will be a good one, so please be sure to attend. This year, we will be sending you a wallet sized PDM schedule with the September newsletter to help you better manage meeting times, locations and speakers. Keep an eye out for it.

I am pleased to say that we have maintained our Platinum status once again with APICS and earned more points than any other chapter. The WSU Student Chapter has also achieved their Platinum status again this year. Congratulations to the board and students for their diligent efforts in making this happen. There are only 74 out of 252 Chapters or 29% that have a Platinum status. As you can see it is not easy to achieve this ranking.

The Wichita chapter has had 21 new members and 14 new CPIM’s last year. There are now 2,563 CSCP’s, so don’t get left behind; this certification is now widely accepted. Remember, if you received your certification as CPIM or CSCP we will provide you with a frame for your certificate when you attend a PDM. Come visit us in an upcoming event. CSCP courses will begin September 27th at Southwestern’s west campus. It lasts 6 weeks and is good for 3 hours of credit toward your CPIM re-certification points.

In closing, I would like to see us support APICS in a fundraiser, so kindly visit http://www.apicsagainsthunger.org/ for more information. The APICS Supply Chain against hunger is linking people and resources to build a supply chain of donations that will put food on the tables of the world’s neediest families. Whether it’s time, energy, or money, if every person gives a little, we can help respond to needy families and hopefully hunger will not be an issue in our country and in the world. Whether you’re part of a corporation, the media representative, a citizen of the world…You can always make a difference. Join the APICS Supply Chain against hunger in fighting hunger in our country, and around the world.
