| About the Speaker: Dennis Rae Hess, founder and President of QCI, has spent more than 30 years in Quality Assurance and Quality Management. He has a BS in Biology and an MBA from Wichita State University where he taught Quality Management for the Department of Industrial Technology at WSU. He has authored the "On Quality" column for the Wichita Eagle. He has conducted numerous seminars on Total Quality Management, and more recently on the ISO 9000 International Quality Management Standards. Combined with his employment history in the quality departments of Cessna Aircraft Company, Learjet Corporation, and as a regional representative for Microsoft. Rae has 14 years of self-employed experience as a quality management consultant. He has consulted for dozens of business firms in a wide variety of industries on the resolution of specific quality management problems, and has assisted many businesses in establishing comprehensive and integrated quality management systems. Rae is certified by the RAB (Registrar Accreditation Board) as a Quality Systems Lead Auditor for ISO 9000-based Quality Management Systems and has participated in more that forty pre-assessments and/or registration audits to ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 requirements. In addition, he has instructed IQA approved Lead Assessor Training courses. |

These international standards, adopted worldwide, are the benchmark against which most companies compare their systems for managing quality. ISO 9001, ISO 9002, and ISO 9003 have been consolidated in to a single standard ISO 9001:2000. The title of the revised standard is Quality Management Systems - Requirements. The new processes-based standard is less restrictive and much more easily adapted to both manufacturing and non-manufacturing businesses. |
