| Professional Development TOPIC: Implementing Lean Manufacturing at Boeing-Wichita This month, Don Blake and members of his Lean Manufacturing Implementation Team will share real-world experience and lessons learned gained over the past four years implementing Lean Production at Wichita Boeing. The presentation will include some of the original strategies and tactics used in their start-up activities back in 1995 through current activities. A detailed look at some of the issues include the enabling elements such as educating line employees and managers, defining
a road map for culture change and process improvement, and creating a process for rapid improvement. Benefits in cost and delivery will also be discussed. The methods and processes employed by the Boeing Wichita implementation team have their roots in the APICS body of knowledge, so APICS members will easily see and recognize why the Boeing Wichita implementation team has become known as the best and most effective in Boeing. About our speaker: Don Blake Don is a Cyclone from Iowa State University, holding a BA from that institution. He is a member of the Derby Running Club and The Road Running Association of Central Kansas (TRRACK) and is active with the Boy Scouts. |
