| APICS TOPICS... The Educational Society for Resource Management, Wichita Chapter 71 |
January 2000 |
| Wow, What a Year! I am writing this the week before Christmas, so if Y2K hits with ugly vengeance - well - this might not be important. But, I hope everyone had a safe and Happy Holiday and I will assume gloom and doom didn't strike. For me, last year was a busy and exciting time. At the Chapter level, in January 1999, we hosted an APICS Region V meeting in Wichita with all the logistics of hotel, tours and entertainment to manage. January also saw the introduction of our chapter's Web page. (In February, I slipped in the purchase and fixing up of a duplex - my first home). Then came the Chapter seminar on Performance Metrics in April. June included the Chapter Presidents meeting in Washington DC. September brought about the resurgence of the Wichita State University Student Chapter of APICS. In October I attended the National APICS meeting - and now Christmas! Yea! |
To Tom Petroski I wish to give a hearty "Thank You!" for a terrific presentation at our December professional development meeting. Tom talked to us about 'Supplier Certification'. Tom provided many examples for the buyer - supplier relationship to grow for a win- win outcome for both companies and the assurance of a good investment for the buyer. Our January speaker is Don Blake, CPIM. Don is an excellent speaker and responsible for the Lean Manufacturing - Kiazan - process at Wichita Boeing. Don also served as VP of Membership for our local APICS Chapter Board of Directors.
