Summertime is time to Celebrate!
As you are probably aware, APICS courses are changing from seven to five modules. While much of the current material will be incorporated, there are several modules with more than 30% new material. Certification tests will change to match the new courseware on September 1. Thereafter, the old certification tests will no longer be offered. Consequently, if you have been studying for the old modules, you may want to complete your testing before September 1, 2000. In addition, you should determine how the old certification tests carry over to the new certification scheme. There is a mapping schematic from the old testing scheme to the new testing scheme on the APICS.org web site. A specially discounted test covering the new courseware will be offered on September 9. Contact Steve Plaster if you are interested in taking the September 9 test or in attending a preparation for the new courseware. It has been my pleasure to serve this year as your Wichita APICS Chapter President. Together, we have accomplished some significant changes. The most notable events are:
(1) becoming an incorporated APICS Chapter,
(2) revitalizing our APICS Student Chapter, and
(3) our Student Chapter achieving the Gold Passport Award this year.		 For our Student Chapter to achieve the Gold Passport Award this year is especially remarkable since they started without a chapter board last year and because it was their first attempt using the Passport Chapter Management guide.

I want to thank all of this year's board members and key supporters. Specifically:

. Dan Hoobler of Raytheon - long time APICS sage and guide to the Passport Program.
. Carla White for assisting with our APICS Student Chapter.
. Kate Keltz of Hub Supply for an excellent Sales and Operations Planning Seminar.
. Steve Plaster of Raytheon for ten well run dinner meetings and tours.
. Teena Armstrong of Boeing for taking care of our chapter membership and annual survey.
. Leroy Denney & Elly Love of Access Services for education and our newsletter (a very time consuming task).
. Ron Kammerer for keeping good minutes of our meetings.
. Dustin Hahn for keeping the chapter budget and finances.
. Lorin Peterson for leading our APICS Chapter through the incorporation process.
In our June meeting we will be presenting awards for the following categories:
. Member of the year - Mac Barnett, CFPIM
. Company of the year - Access Group, LLC
. Voluntary service - Dan Hoobler, CPIM
Sedgwick County Zoo Please join us at the zoo with a bunch of monkeys and lions for a fun evening as we transition to the new board.
