May 2000 First Place: Performance Evaluation of Advanced Measuring Instruments

This project undertook the evaluation of CMM for both hardware and software parts. Tolerances were measured using the CMM and these results were compared with the corresponding values from various tolerance optimization software. The conclusion was "CMM is an excellent date collection device but does not produce the optimum measurement results."

The problem faced by job shop industries with a HVBP facility in their production scheduling can be solved by adopting the Theory of Constraint (TOC). Drum-Buffer-Rope is one of the scheduling methods that are beneficial for HVBP scheduling, compare it to Earliest Due Date.

Currently, the base filling machines and the main production lines are located too far from each other. This requires the company to have additional manpower in both locations. Therefore, we were to attach a base-filling machine to the main fluorescent lamp production line.
