| With the year 2000 on us it occurred to me that certification renewal is just around the corner. Our chapter has 82 CPIM's and 7 CIRM's out of the 260 members. Did you know how easy it is to maintain those certifications? At 75 points to re-certify, it can seem overwhelming at first, but let me map out some easy ways to maintain the certification. There are four categories and I'll start from the bottom. | |
| 1. Professional Membership APICS Membership equals 6 points per year plus 5 years equals 30 points. That's almost halfway there by just maintaining your membership. Membership to other professional organizations such as NAPM, SME, etc., that are directly related to resource management equals 1 point per year. 2. Service to the Resource Management Profession 3. Presentations, Publications, and Educational Development |
4. Continuing Education Here's the easy one. Professional Development Meetings, Workshops, Classes, Review Courses, Seminars, Region Meetings, etc., equals 1 point per hour of instruction. CPIM/CIRM certification exams equals 10 points per exam passed. With reviewing these options, a scenario to maintain points is:
1. Maintain Membership (30 points for 5 years) Attend most dinner meetings and a seminar and you easily have 75 points! |
