| WELCOME BACK WSU! By Michael Staley The student chapter at Wichita State University is at it again. They kicked off the year with a Welcome Back/Recruiting Party on September 27th. Cindi Greene, the student chapter Vice President, visited the Engineering 101 classes to inform and invite interested freshmen and sophomores to attend. The chapter also designed brochures that advertised the event and then published the activity in the Sunflower. The evening started with an informational session targeted towards recruiting new members. Maura Pendleton, alumni who graduated last year, made a guest appearance. Brian Maschino, Ron Kammerer, and Ron Lunsford, all of whom gave a personal insight into the benefits of membership, represented the senior chapter. |
Michael Staley, the student chapter President, recapped the previous year's accomplishments to help foreshadow the events to come. In total, there were nearly forty in attendance. Immediately following the informational meeting, the attendants moved on to the Student Union, which is located in the basement of the Rattigan Student Center. This was a time of fellowship, that gave the old members a chance to mingle with the potential new recruits. To aid in this effect, the chapter provided free bowling, billiards, and refreshments. Michael Staley, the student chapter President, said that nearly half of the students present were non-members. The chapter anticipates acquiring at least six new member as a result of their efforts. |

1.) Approved 9/21/Minutes 2.) Review of individual departments  Programs: The plant tour is set for November PDM and the December is being planned. Education: Old CPIM books have been returned to national and new books have been ordered for the new CPIM classes being taught. New CPIM books will be available at PDM meetings along with being provided for WSU students to use. |
| Corporate Member at Large: Company coordinator training will be scheduled prior to a future PDM. Student Chapter: Report given by chapter president stating programs and activities going on this year along with getting information necessary for their passport program submittal. Seminar: Working on speaker ideas and strategies for implementation to ensure a successful seminar. Awards Information: Each vice president has certain activities that must be carried out to achieve the chapter goals for this year along with quantitative analysis to show if corrections are needed which must be included in the Passport program submittal to region next July. Treasurer: The prepared budget was reviewed and modifications made with an approved budget incorporated to track the actual expenditures against. 3.) Chamber of Commerce: Discussion was held on the benefits and activities of the Wichita Chamber. The board tabled this topic until next meeting to discuss our future role in this group. |
