"WSU Sweeps the APICS Donald W. Fogarty graduate paper competition at the region level. WSU had seven graduate paper winners at the local chapter level and two undergraduate winners. The top three went to the regional competition.

Brian Grantham received 1st Place, Karthikeyan Shanmugam received 2nd Place, and Krishna Krishnaiyer, Ashok Ramkumar, and Sriram Swaminathan received 3rd Place in Region-5. Amber Fechter received third place in the undergraduate competition. The APICS region 5 covers North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. Brian's paper will be sent to the national competition held later this Fall.

The Donald W. Fogarty International Student Paper Competition actively encourages the professional development of students interested in the field of resource management. Full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students who submit original, relevant, and timely research papers on topics related to the field of resource management are presented cash awards. The annual competition is sponsored by the APICS Educational and Research (E&R) Foundation.

Please join me in congratulating the excellent work by these students.

The WSU student chapter also won the gold student chapter management award for the second year in a row. Last year WSU was only one of seven chapters to be so honored. The Gold Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional organizational management skills. These recipients have surpassed minimum requirements in all areas of concentration, employed superior teamwork techniques, and developed integrative and innovative skills in problem solving."
